Using the setup checklist
The steps every journal completes before going live.
Updated Oct 20, 2026 · 1 min read
Open Journal settings → Setup checklist. Each step links to the page where you complete it:
- Journal details — Editor-in-Chief, ISSN, frequency, publisher, contact details.
- Logo and cover — shown in the header and in "Journal at a glance".
- Key policies — at least Aims and Scope, Author Guidelines and Peer Review Policy.
- Editorial board — at least three members with affiliations.
- Article types — e.g. Research Article, Review, each with its review type.
- Editors — invite the people who will handle submissions.
- Journal email — connect your journal's own mail service, so emails go out from your domain. See Sending email from your journal's address.
- First issue — issues collect accepted articles.
- Plan and own domain — needed to go live.
Optional steps, such as listing where the journal is indexed, are marked Optional. The top of the page shows Live or Preview and exactly what is still missing.
