JournalEnv by Altechmind

Why JournalEnv

Running journal software takes a team. JournalEnv gives you one.

Open-source journal software has served scholarly publishing well, and many journals run it successfully. JournalEnv is for journals that would rather not run software at all. Here is the difference a fully managed platform makes — and when self-hosting is still the right choice.

Questions

Is JournalEnv built on existing open-source journal software?

No. JournalEnv is our own platform, designed from years of supporting journals on many systems. There is no separate software for you to install, upgrade or extend with plugins.

Can we move our existing journal to JournalEnv?

Yes. Our team can bring over your issues, articles, PDFs, authors and metadata from your current platform or website as a quoted service, and keep your DOIs and journal address working.

Will our DOIs and indexing continue?

Your DOIs stay yours and keep resolving: we update their links to the new article pages through your Crossref account. OAI-PMH, Google Scholar tags and sitemaps are ready on day one, so indexes can harvest the journal at its usual address.

When is self-hosted software the better choice?

If your institution requires software on its own servers, or you need code-level customisation, self-hosted journal software is the right tool — and Altechmind, the team behind JournalEnv, provides installation, hosting, upgrades and support for it.

Need software on your own server?

We support self-hosted journals too

If your institution requires its own server, or you need code-level customisation, Altechmind — the team behind JournalEnv — sets up journal software on your own server, with design, upgrades, customisation, training and support. The server stays yours, from the provider you choose.
