Exporting your journal

Download all your journal’s content as a zip file, at any time.

Updated Oct 19, 2026 · 1 min read

Your journal's data is yours. You can download a complete copy at any time — including after the plan has run out.

How to export

  1. Open Journal settings → Export journal.
  2. Choose whether to include every uploaded file (manuscripts, revisions, review attachments, images). This makes the zip larger.
  3. Click Download export. Large journals can take a few minutes.

What is in the zip

  • journal.json — journal details, article types, policy pages, editorial board and announcements
  • issues.csv — all issues
  • articles.csv and articles.json — every article with authors, abstract, DOI, licence and references
  • articles/ — the published PDFs
  • submissions.csv — every submission with its status and dates
  • files/ — every uploaded file, if you ticked the option

The CSV files open in Excel or Google Sheets.

Keep it safe

The export contains personal data of authors and reviewers. Store it securely: as the journal's owner you are responsible for it under data protection law.

We recommend downloading an export every few months, and always before a plan runs out.
